The catastrophe which has paralysed efficient instructing and studying occurred on Monday night time and has pulled off the roofs of about eight buildings within the faculty and destroyed many photo voltaic powered safety lights, pulled down many financial bushes, and others.
It was gathered that the rainstorm additionally destroyed a lot gear, paperwork, and different workplace supplies within the affected buildings.
Among the affected buildings are: School of Science Administrative Block, Wants Evaluation constructing, about 15 Photo voltaic-powered safety lights stands, and two Feminine Halls of Residence.
Others are: College Library, ICT constructing, Professional-Chancellor’s workplace, Entrepreneurship and Employability Centre, and the primary College Auditorium amongst others.
On the College Library the roof and the ceiling had been badly broken and lots of books, paperwork, computer systems, and different devices, in response to some members of college workers working within the library had been affected.
On his response to the incident, the Vice-Chancellor of the College, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba, lamented that the catastrophe has badly affected instructing and studying within the establishment.
He stated that he was shocked and devastated by the incident. He stated though the administration was nonetheless assessing and evaluating the broken amenities, the damages might price over N500 million.
“I am shocked and devastated. I had to call off my meeting in Enugu yesterday to come back. It’s scary and worrisome. What do we do? The destruction is massive; not just in terms of the roofs and buildings but also laboratory, computers, tables, files, computers and others. It’s not good at all”, he stated.
