The Defence Headquarters has constituted a seven-man panel to unravel the circumstances that led to the killing of three policemen and a civilian by troops of 93 Battalion in Takum, Taraba state.
The Appearing Director of Defence Data, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, mentioned that the Chief of Defence Employees, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin, constituted the panel on Friday in compliance with the directive by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He mentioned that the panel which was headed by Rear Adm. I.T Olaiya, had a consultant every from the Nigerian Military, Navy, Air Pressure, Police, Division of State Service and the Defence Intelligence Company.
Based on him, the Joint Committee has commenced work instantly.
The police authorities had on Wednesday introduced the killing of its personnel from the Pressure Headquarters on covert operation by the troops alongside Ibi-Jalingo street in Taraba state.
The police had alleged that the arrested kidnap kingpin, Alhaji Hamisu was launched by the troops, whereas three of their males and a civilian had been killed at shut vary.
Military Headquarters, in response, described the incident as `unlucky and avoidable’ and claimed that its males mistook the policemen for kidnappers. It mentioned its males had been responding to a misery name to rescue a kidnapped sufferer and exchanged hearth with the policemen.
Each statements differed within the location of the capturing. The military mentioned it was on Ibi-Wukari street, whereas the police mentioned it was on Ibi-Jalingo street. Their males arrested the kidnap kingpin in Ibi and had been heading to Jalingo, the capital.
The reason by the military incensed the Police Excessive Command.
In a counter response on Thursday, the police raised various questions that the military authorities wanted to unravel particularly the whereabouts of the arrested suspected kidnapping kingpin, Alhaji Hamisu Bala Wadume.
