The Anambra State Police Command has warned the Indigenous Individuals Biafra to not go forward with its planend sit-at-home on the 30th of Might 2019 or face harsh penalties of it does.
The group had ordered a sit-at-home to honour struggle veterans who died within the Nigeria-Biafra struggle from 1967-1970.
The police nonetheless reminded the organisation of their proscription as a terrorist group and subsequently warned them to to organise any occasions.
The Anambra state police command in an announcement on Wednesday mentioned, “Information at the disposal of the Anambra State Police Command has revealed that the outlawed group, Indigenous People of Biafra is perfecting plans through public announcement and threats in Nnewi and other parts of the State in order to enforce a “sit-at-home,” warning individuals to remain at residence and to not come out for any enterprise actions on the 30th of Might,2019.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Indigenous Individuals of Biafra remains to be a proscribed organisation therefore all its actions stay unlawful.
“The Commissioner of Police Anambra State, Mustapha Dandaura enjoined all Anambra individuals to ignore alleged calls by any group urging them to sit down at residence on the 30/5/2019 and go about their lawful companies.
“The CP additional assured the general public that sufficient safety preparations have been put in place by mixed safety forces within the State to nip within the bud any risk emanating from such teams.”
“The Command will therefore not hesitate to deal decisively with and in accordance with the law any individual or groups under any guise that will disrupt public peace in the State”.
